Made in Dagenham

November 2023

Following 9 to 5 The Musical, Rollers Theatre Company is back at the Bridewell Theatre with Made in Dagenham: The Musical.

Adapted from the 2010 film, Made in Dagenham is based on the real-life story of the Ford sewing machinists’ strike of 1968. We follow the story of Rita, a working woman and mother who becomes a union leader amidst the strike.

From the writer of One Man, Two Guv’nors, we promise took audiences back to the swinging sixties with this uplifting musical comedy about friendship, love, and the importance of doing what is right.

Made in Dagenham was a SELL OUT production at the Bridewell Theatre running 1st - 4th November 2023

BY THE BOOK: A MUSICAL CABARET

April 2023

Following their hugely successful run of 9 To 5 The Musical, Rollers Theatre Company is back with another jam-packed cabaret, full of songs celebrating arguably the world's most valuable resource; books!

From songs based on the greatest literary works (Les Misérables, Little Women) to the legendary burn book (Mean Girls) and Dr Seuss, there’s something for everyone in RTC’s ‘By The Book’ cabaret.

RTC was thrilled to bring their box-steps and skipping ropes back to London’s Bridewell Theatre from April 13th-15th 2023.

9 to 5 The musical

October 2022

Following their sell-out production of The Wedding Singer, Rollers Theatre Company are thrilled to return to the stage with their production of the legendary Dolly Parton musical, 9 to 5 The Musical.

Follow three unlikely friends as they navigate work and life under their tyrannical boss, with hilarious twists and turns along the way.

This adaption of the 1980 film, 9 to 5 The Musical is a joyful satirical comedy, set to Dolly Parton’s iconic soundtrack.

9 to 5 The Musical was performed 5th-8th October 2022, at The Cockpit.

Seasons of Life: a musical cabaret

April 2022

Rollers returned from its two-year hibernation with a triumphant celebration of everything in life worth celebrating.

RTC’s Seasons of Life cabaret gathers the best songs from musicals both young and old, from lesser-known gems to family favourites, to explore what it means to grow up, get old, and live life to the fullest.

They say the best things in life are worth waiting for - the cabaret was originally planned for Easter 2020, and spent two years in a cocoon of anticipation, ready to emerge as a bigger, better (and perhaps marginally more grey-haired) butterfly at London’s Bridewell theatre from 21-23 April 2022.

THE WEDDING SINGER

November 2019

Poster Facebook cover 2.jpg

It’s 1985 and wannabe rock star Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favourite wedding singer. He’s the life and soul of every party. That is, until his own fiancée unceremoniously leaves him at the altar. Truly heartbroken, Robbie’s misery is contagious, and every wedding he plays is now as disastrous as his own.

Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who steals his heart and could truly be the person to turn around Robbie’s misfortunes. There’s just one problem: Julia is about to marry one of Wall Street’s most successful and ruthless businessmen. Unless Robbie can pull off the performance of the decade, the girl of his dreams may be gone forever….

Based on the 1998 movie of the same name, The Wedding Singer has a sparkling new musical score, which does for the 80s what Hairspray did for the 60s. Expect shoulder pads, gallons of hair gel and more than a few homages to songs of the 80s.

The Wedding Singer was performed from Wednesday 6th and Saturday 9th November 2019 at the Stockwell Playhouse, and was our biggest selling show to date.

THE ONE ABOUT LOVE

May 2019

Facebook event 2.jpeg

Young (ish) musical theatre company seeks cabaret audience. Must be interested in songs, likes long walks on the beach, bring a GSOH and be willing to travel to Stockwell. Ideally, keen to explore all types of love depicted in musical theatre. Or if not, can be tempted by a well-stocked bar and an evening watching their friends on stage.

We wooed audiences with songs on the theme of love over two nights, and even debuted an original song, written by two talented Rollers.

City Of Angels

November 2018

coa_facebook_new.jpg

Los Angeles in the late 1940s.  LA at its most salacious. Mist rolls in from the Pacific and long shadows are everywhere.

We meet Stone, a private detective down on his luck, scraping around for his next meal.  He’s approached by a ‘femme fatale’ vision in white, Alaura Kingsley. She needs him to find her step daughter, Mallory who’s disappeared.  Will he track her down through the murk of LA, or will he catch a bullet in the process? But that’s only half the story.

We performed the iconic City of Angels over four nights at Stockwell Playhouse.

The Rogues' Gallery: Villains of musical theatre

May 2018

RTC_Rogues_Facebook header.jpg

In a grotty London pub, nestled between Fagin’s den and Sweeney’s barber shop, the villains of musical theatre gather. It’s the only place that they can truly be themselves, at their most evil…or their most misunderstood.

Our Villains of Musical Theatre cabaret was performed over three sold out nights at the Chelsea Theatre.

 URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL

NOVEMBER 2017

Drought. Despair. Dance numbers.

This Rollers' record breaking show was presented over 4 nights at the Stockwell Playhouse. Our second fully-licensed musical was a great success, and was even highlighted as the show to watch in November by Harper's Bazaar.

THE MISCAST CABARET

MAY 2017

Performed at Oxford House in Bethnal Green over two sold-out evenings, The Miscast Cabaret was an irreverent and inventive take on the classic (and new classic) songs of the musical world. From The Trolley Song re-imagined on the tube, to a Rocky Horror-Rocky mash-up, nothing was sacred, but everything was celebrated.

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

NOVEMBER 2016

A milestone for RTC, our first fully-licensed show was performed at The Bloomsbury Studio.

With 5 sell-out performances and rave reviews, it ensured we ended 2016 on a high.

AN A TO Z OF MUSICALS

APRIL 2016

Doing our very best to avoid musicals based on Xanadu or Zorro, we rehearsed hard and took to the the stage for a second show, this time at the Courtyard Theatre in Hoxton.

We wanted to make this a bigger challenge than the last, so we decided to run for two nights

Incredibly, both nights sold out in under a week. And we had a waiting list that could have filled another half house again.

DURHAM CHANCELLOR'S DINNER

MARCH 2016

We were also invited to perform a short excerpt of the show for Sir Thomas Allen (current Chancellor of Durham University) at his Chancellor's Dinner in London. This provided further support from influential members of the business community

BEGINNERS' CALL - A MUSICAL THEATRE CABARET

NOVEMBER 2015

Aptly titled for our first-ever production, in November 2015, we staged a one night, sell-out musical theatre cabaret presented at Theatre Delicatessen
