Can anyone join RTC?
RTC is, at its heart, an inclusive musical theatre company. Our only restrictions are that members must be graduates of Durham University and are not professional performers. Durham prided itself on bringing together people with a passion for theatre: we want to maintain the high standard and professional ethos of the Durham drama societies, creating a place for graduates to continue to pursue their interest
What does it cost to be part of RTC?
At RTC, we don't charge a membership fee. We believe that you should only pay if you're in one of our shows. Instead we charge a performance levy similar to, if not cheaper than, other amateur companies. In addition, as we are a company in its infancy, we charge a small rehearsal fee to cover the costs of venue hire.
Where does the money from RTC performances go?
RTC is a not-for-profit company: all of the proceeds from our productions go back into the company to fund future shows, and future generations of Rollers.
When are rehearsals held?
RTC rehearsals are held weekly on a Tuesday night, though this can vary from production to production. In addition to this, rehearsals sometimes take place at the weekend.
Where are rehearsals held?
RTC rehearsals are held in central London at a variety of easily-accessible locations.
Can I get involved with backstage & the band?
Yes! We are always on the lookout for those with skill sets & interests in music, tech, stage management, costumes, props…
What ability / experience is needed?
At RTC, we believe in creating high-quality musical theatre in a fun and inclusive way. As such, we do prefer that members have some experience in musical theatre, and feel confident singing, acting and dancing on stage, however this is not an absolute pre-requisite.
Who runs RTC?
RTC is run by an Executive Committee. The current Exec are the founding members of the company, and are responsible for everything from budgets to branding, and from venue booking to social media.
Who runs the RTC productions?
A production team is appointed for each performance, whether cabaret or fully-licensed show. The production team control the creative direction & execution of each show, from audition to closing curtain.
How many productions do RTC put on annually?
Our aim is to present one fully-licensed musical theatre show a year. In order to support this, we also put on ad-hoc musical theatre cabarets over one or two nights. This is not only a great fundraising opportunity, but also provides a chance for our members to perform songs they may otherwise never get a chance to.
Do RTC offer any sponsorship opportunities?
Yes! Please use the 'Contact Us' form to find out more...
